Automotive
Automobile manufacturers and tier one suppliers rely on Menzerna to continuously adapt polishing processes to changing coating technologies and to improve productivity.
Automobile Interior
Requirements:
- minimise manual reworking
- avoid overheating of clearcoats through frictional heat during the polishing operation
- reduce number of sanding operations before polishing. Grid 320 sanding marks have to be eliminated without compromising the surface quality of the finished product
Decorative Aluminium Parts
Requirements:
- compound residues must be easy to remove in water based degreasing baths. Residues on polished parts have to be minimised in order to prolong the operating life of the degreasing bath and to avoid carryover into the galvanic baths
- minimise the risk of spontaneous combustion of polishing waste
- avoid overheating of aluminium parts through frictional heat during the polishing operation
Clearcoats
Requirements:
- grid 2500 - 3000 sanding marks have to be eliminated on all types of clearcoats without leaving haze or holograms.
- dust formation from polishing minerals set free during the polishing operation has to be limited in order to avoid contamination of the coating process
- standard times for the elimination of paint defects have to be met in order to ensure a smooth production flow
- Polish formulations have to be kept abreast of new coating systems and demanding perfomance standards of OEM manufacturers (see case study... )
